FODMs Seat Repair

May 25 2016 News >> Latest News

SeatFriends of the Discovery Museum have carried out repairs to a seat in the Soldier’s Life Gallery.

The seat should be held against the wall by a spring mechanism to allow wheelchair access and be pulled down to allow its use by non wheelchair users. Unfortunately, the spring was missing and this made wheelchair access more difficult.

FODMS members located suitable springs and wood to manufacture a new, lighter seat. These were installed together with assemblies to hold the spring mechanism in place and the seat is now fully restored.

FODMS would like to thank: Spring Stockists LEE SPRINGS of Wokingham, Berkshire and Timber Merchants PERCY A HUDSON of North Shields for the supply of materials which enabled us to complete this repair.
